The Ramcharger is cool, but the R/T! Red interior, 4 speed, and stripe delete! That car makes my fun stuff all tingly. |

Here are some present day pics of the old girl. Just got her pulled out of the weeds after sitting since 1997. She is rough but I got the parts. Loaded up and ready to be reborn. The key ingredient to bringing it back that I have had for a long time. I always planned to fix this up one day. Nevermind the asking price on the tub as I gave $125 for it. Lucked out with the same color too. Passenger side is dented up and the pillars need repair or replacing. |

I suppose it is time to break the news. My '79 Ramcharger is way to far gone to justify repairing. Instead I located this '78 Ramcharger SE and am currently building it as a replica of my old '79. The color is nearly identical under the hood. Someone had put a cheapy paint job on it that is lighter than original and swapped to a Quad grill so I will just take it a little further. She is originally a California truck with a 360 automatic. It has some neat options like factory tach, volt/vacuum gauges, roll bar, tire carrier, 3.55 limited slip, and A/C originally. Claimed to be a 62K mile truck but I can't prove that. The seats and door panels are from that '80's but in nice shape. I will be adding a factory AM/FM/CB radio to it as well. |

Ty, I forgot how clean that thing is. I think it's going to look great all done up like your orig one. |

My original picture link is gone so here is the goal when all is said and done. and here is the progress so far. Hood, cowl, and valance swap. Trim studs ground off and holes welded up. Chevy mirrors removed and factory 3 spokes added. Found some bondo and rust out in the lower front quarter corners. Made some patch panels and welded them in. Here is all the trapped dirt that caused the rusting. |

Cool, looks like it's coming along nicely. I'm glad you went with the original style mirrors. That rust is very minor, what a solid truck you have. My Top Hand needs repair in that same exact spot but mines alittle worse. |

Thanks Ryan. It just made more sense, in my case, to start with something that is solid and already optioned close to what I wanted. I don't have the time for the repairs needed to my old one and the only thing that would have really been left were the hood, cowl, valance, frame, and "maybe" the top. Everything else is either rotted, nasty, or already removed by me years ago. Coat of filler on the trim and patch areas. Sanding done and loaded up for the trip to the booth. Dropping off. Got the top off. First time I ever sat in one with the top off, pretty cool! In the booth and masked up. |

Here she is after the primer surfacer was applied on Saturday. I had hoped to paint it yesterday but I spent the day block sanding it by hand to get it real straight. Unfortunately, I forgot my '79 went through a hail storm years ago and a lot of little dimples showed up in the hood that the filler primer won't catch. I applied some Rage Gold last night and will put three coats of filler primer on and block again. Then maybe get it painted in the original Cashmere next weekend. After that the top and original wheels will get a shot of Sable Sunfire Metallic. A local sign shop is making new decals in brown metallic like the originals. I also took digital photos of the Rams head decal, touched it up some, and he is making those for me too. Been a lot of work so far but, hopefully getting there. |

Yeah, a little bummed about the hood. I wouldn't want to look at a bunch of dimples either so it is what it is. Weather is great here and it would have been a nice day for a cruise in a poptop. On a side note, the rear tire carriers are all black right? I am thinking about painting it the brown metallic to match the top. |
