Looking for some information on my 1985 318 roller lifter block. (cast date November 1984). This is a factory roller lifter block with a new stock cam (and missing distributor gear/shaft). Does anyone know if these blocks (or newer style magnum roller blocks) use a bronze distributor gear. What I can find is not specific. Typically a retro fit roller cam must use a bronze gear due to the tool steel it's made from as apposed to cast iron in a flat tappet cam. Hopefully someone has a factory stock small block roller lifter motor apart and can verify if the distributor gear is steel or bronze. (a magnet will tell). Any help is appreciated.
