I have a question about the stock fuel tank on my 77. Firstly, does anyone have a clue where I can get one? I have looked all over in Texas, but they are all dry rotted or cracked. I have a after-market summit fuel cell mounted in the back, but fuel sending unit is bad. Would like to get the tank back under the bed. Any help out there? :)

What is wrong with the original? Plastic or metal? Some possible solutions:

Non-OEM solution:
http://www.rustrepair.com/gas_tanks.htm

Fuel-tank liner:
http://racewayparts.com/fueltankrestoration.aspx

Gas tank Repair (there are others):
http://www.misterfixit.com/gastank/gastankrepair.htm

Another sealer (liner):

How close are you to Cali? LA & The Bay Area have some clean stuff...Hope this helps! ;)

If you could get a broken/bad OEM one out of the boneyard, you would have the dimensions and might be able to get a replacement non-OEM or fab something- just a thought. :)

Around here our tanks are usually fine, its the trucks that are dry rotted and cracked.
I need to replace the sending unit on a couple of my trucks also,if you can find out the part #,some may still be available from dealerships or at least they were when I last checked a few years ago. Auto Meter does have a universal sending unit for about $40,it would have to be modified just a bit but should be easy on plastic tanks.

it is hard to find a good tank out here, and now they are testing the evap systems in CA....wrecking yards usually drill a hole in them to drain the fuel....it suxs..
