I have a set of '72-'74 1/2ton axles out of a truck, rear is an 8 3/4" 4.10 gear unit, making the front also a 4.09 or 4.10 ratio, is it remotely possible to change out the control arms, spindles etc. to put in a disk brakes setup, I'd really like the locking hub setup still, to use the NP205 case. Was there a year with 1/2ton axles, w/manual hubs, and the 5 X 4.5" bolt pattern? Is there really any advantage to that that 83/4" rear, since most trucks are probably all 9 1/4" rears?

Or would I just be better off with the 3/4ton running gear, 4.10s and disk brakes, manual hubs...... : ) Which years has the nice manual hubs on the 3/4ton dana 44s? Thanks for your help. Any ideas?
