I got my 1973 Dodge W100 delivered last Friday. It didn't run when it arrived. I had to get a tow truck to bring it to my house.

I was looking at the bulkhead connections and pressed the connectors in when the truck starter engaged. I was going to run for a wrench to take the negative off but I pressed the harness again at the bulkhead connector and the started disengaged.

I noticed my headlights were now working though. I was looking around and then noticed that my cab was full of smoke. The black wire that runs up the steering column and also into the harness has melted all the insulation off.

Today I removed the cab wiring harness to check how bad the black wire is burned. I'm wondering now how bad did it melt the other wires in the harness.

Anyone else have this happen to them?

I am looking at a Ron Francis harness replacement now. What do you guys think? Where should I mount the fuse box?

Thanks,
Tom
