Greetings from the Houston area! Long-time lurker here, I've been a Macho Power Wagon fan since the beginning of Simon & Simon. I'm currently doing without a 4x4 (for now) but I've been dreaming of building both versions of Rick Simon's truck (manual and auto) for well over 20 years now. I've been a commercial driver running day routes for 16 plus years, including a 7 year stint in Chicago hauling US Mail, 6 years in Houston hauling Budweiser beer, and now 3 years for CVS Pharmacy Distribution. I grew up in a small farm town and was driving trucks to the grain elevator when I was 14. My 4wd history (most recent first) '85 Jeep Grand Wagoneer (traded 2 r/c cars for it) '98 Jeep Grand Cherokee '95 Ford F-250 (Plow truck) '86 Chevy K-10 '83 Dodge Ramcharger I've had several 2wd trucks along the way and currently own an '05 GMC 1500 (wife's DD) and a '98 Dodge Neon that has seen more offroad time than most Jeeps you see on the roads today. I bought the Neon new in December '07 and it currently has 252+K on the odometer. I'm really into old-school offroad racing and was a big fan of Walker Evans and Rod Hall during their Dodge days. I have a lot of offroad racing photos on my Myspace page www.myspace.com/petefromhouston Thanks for creating this site and to those who have provided me so much info on my favorite Dodges of all! |

Hey I'm new here ... though I've lurked for quite awhile. I've always been a Mopar man. My Grandfather was a Mopar man and my father always had Dodge trucks... couple that with the Dukes of Hazzard from when I was a kid and well yeah it's a sickness. Being a country boy, I've owned mostly trucks but I do have 2 of the mid 80's Turbo Dodges and am currantley hunting for a truck again. Partial list of the cars I've owned: 68 Dodge Charger- built 360 with Edelbrock intake and Holley High rise carb. 88 Dodge Daytona- 2.5 auto t-tops 84 Dodge Ram 100- /6; granny 4 short box (best vehicle I've ever owned bought it for $700 cash from the local Chrysler dealer and ran this forever until everything was rusted off) 83 Power Ram- 360 4spd short box (this thing was jacked up with huge tires when I bought it with intentions of a good farm truck...it had crappy electrical issues and I sold it. I still see it occassionally) 90 Power Ram- 318 auto full size I bought this for a really good deal and did some body work on it to turn a profit never ran it on the road 78 ? Power Wagon- 318 auto short box citron green (may have been a Macho...didn't know what a Macho was when I had this... had a roll bar and had 2 sets of the yellow wagon wheels with the black pinstripes) (The tranny burnt up after I owned it maybe 3 months and I sold it to a local logger... he ran it awhile...I saw it in the local pick and pull 2 years ago beat to crap...whipes tear away) 93 Dodge Dakota Sport- 4x4 5-spd edelebrock intake and headers, MSD ignition 90 Dodge Dakota- 4x4 5 spd 85 Dodge Daytona Turbo Z- 2.2 turbo, 5-spd, t-tops, all power, all leather 88 Dodge Daytona Shelby- 2.2 intercooled turbo, 5-spd, T-tops, all power, all leather I miss driving a truck and am going back into farming so I really need one anyway... looking for a 4x4 manual tranny preferably short box... going to eventually clone the elusive 81 Macho...though I'm thinking gold wheels and stripe instead of orange. Love the sight and the info ! |
