I have a 79 3/4 ton Power Wagon I am restoring and plan to give it the 78 Macho paint and stripe treatment. My question is this: There is no door tag or door post tag indicating the front axle rating. (I can't find a tag anywhere). The front differential housing has a 44 stamped on the lower casing. Does this mean it is a 3500 or 4500 lb axle? Thanks. I'm sure I will have more questions. ( I had a new 1/2 ton power wagon in 1980 and missed it ever since I sold it in 1985). Now that I am divorced I bought another one since now I can do what I want!

well, if it has 44 cast into the housing it is the lighter duty of them, and not the 4500 lb axle which is the dana 60. More than likely the axle ratio is a 4.10 axle if it is a 3/4 ton truck.
