Hi: Checked the pictures out but doesnt have a really good shot of rear fenders. The back fenders should be fiberglass and have a flat area like a chevy fender. Look at all the other Californian pics we have posted and check out the rear bumper that should also match. See if there is any evidence of a snap on toneau cover. Hope this info helps. If you look at it send some pics we would be glad to see them. Other than that its not a bad truck for what there asking. :)

Im not exatly sure how to post the information but, there is a 1977 dodge 4x4 stepside for sale on craiglsist in Moscow, ID. The ad states "California Special" but I dont know what that means. Would it be a Californian? Its says it has a dealer installed 440, does anyone know anything about this? I live in Spokane, WA and this truck is not too far from me. I have a 78 power wagon but was thinking about getting this one too, or if someone else was interested I could take a look for them as well. I saw it was recently on ebay too, the asking price is $3,000. Any input would be helpful.

that was a semi-local truck to where I am at. It couldn't be sold here locally for 2k 4 years ago. The truck was sold new in Hanford Ca, and was owned by an navy guy. The last owner that I knew of bought it from a navy guy as well, and painted it the burnt orange that it is now. Truck was originally black sunfire metalic, and was a "D" code truck with factory a/c. IIRC the wiring was hacked on a little, and was missing the emissions stuff for CA, which is another reason why I stayed away from it....

Okay, thanks for the information guys. Also, would it be a dealer installed 440? I have never heard of this before, but I am pretty new to the old dodge trucks (although I have 3 of them now, haha, i'll try to post pix soon). Iam assuming a dealer installed 440 is less desirable than a factory 440. Thanks again.

Check the serial number the 5th digit should be a "D". Dealer installed 440- pretty slim. Very hard to prove without paper work. Good Luck with truck.

Recent trip to California, spotted a Californian.
Sadly at the end of the road in the Rancho
Cordova picnpull.

Sold new from Sierra Dodge up in Chico.

Hard to tell, but looks like the last time

somebody tried to sell it, there were no

takers. Small block.
