Were not going to Carlisle this year, taking the year off. This year were actually going to the Atlantic Nationals in Moncton NB. Were heading out early in the morning with my pop up camper in tow. I'll be at Carlisle next year with my Top Hand.

I actually heard about a macho powerwagon up in Moncton NB area a long time ago that was sitting out behind an old farm house. It was a 79 or 80 in green paint. I heard it was really ruff though. Where traveling the back way so hopefully I'll spot some dodge adult toy stuff on the way there.

I did my rear end in on the 8 hour trip up to Moncton NB. When I was about three hours away from getting to Moncton (Canada, US boarder) my truck started making a very loud sound and got worse as I kept driving. It only did it when I applied the gas. When I let off it was quite. When I finally made it there I found a local dodge dealership and they looked it over and said it was my rearend gear. They said there was alot of slop and the ends of the big gear in the rear was rounded over. There was no broken pieces but the gear oil was really burnt. They ended up putting new gear oil into and put it back together and hit me with a $150.00 bill(lol). I actually made the 5 hour trip back home with it but I had to put ear plugs in as it was a very loud ride. I also had to wrap a belt around the transfer case handle and hold it back as it kept kicking out other wise. I cant believe it actually made it back hearing how bad it sounded while driving. What's my best bet in getting this fixed, should I try to buy new gears and redo the whole rear, or just try to find one out of another ramcharger?
Thanks for any help.

Because it is your Top Hand I would probably try to get new gears installed in the original housing vs getting another rear. It likely wouldn't matter much in the whole scheme of things value wise but at least then you would know it was "new".

Is it 3.55 gearing, I just sent a rusted out ramcharger frame to the yard last month with those in it.

It is the 3:55's (lol). That's what I'll do, I put another set in my rear end.

wonder if that is why Harrold parked it?
remember seeing those huge boats that he had, wondered if he pulled with it...
did you dump all of the fluids before the trip???

It might be, he did haul huge boats with it and that's why he put the 440 into it back in the day. He did say he parked due to a bad bearing in the transfer case, but when I was driving it I heard nothing untill this last trip. I changed the tranny fluid and motor oil before the trip but not the readend fluid.
