The front axle in the fulltime trucks pretty much spin all of the time, cannot unlock the hubs..

The fulltime cases when you have it in either Hi or Lo, all four tires are turning but I guess the front/rear drivelines are independent of each other, when in Hi loc or Low loc the tcase is locked so the front and rear drivelines are spinning at the same speed, usually making it hard to turn.

The optional Limited slip is in the rear axle, so basically your rear axle would be locked also. And if you were stuck, both back tires would be spinning, and probably one front tire, which ever has the less traction...

With no limited slip, if you had it in say in HI Lok and you were stuck, you would probably have one tire turning in the front and one in the back, both spinning at the same speed.

Maybe I'm missing something, but that's how I usually see it.
Either way, having it in LOCK can get you pretty much out of anything, or pull anything! I remember dragging an 80s Chevy pickup in a tug o war in sand, that heavy chevy couldn't pull a half ton short box 440 truck with a limited slip.

Hope that helps!

Sorry to bring this up again, but most the 9.25s had 3:55 gearing ratio, right?

My 79 Warlock auto is 3.31to 1. Most LRE are 3.55 to 1.

But the macho 9.25s were mostly 3:55, right?

It's really hard to say. The 3.55 was more of a performance ratio. Palomino has owned more Dodges than any other collector I know. Maybe he can comment the question of how common is the 3.55.
