Unfortunately I'm missing the trim piece that snaps into the dash bezel for the Chronometer -- so that's on hold until I can find one. The guy I got it from doesn't have it either. :?

Since I have a 4-day weekend for Thanksgiving I plan to get cracking on the exhaust -- I'm hoping the current setup comes apart nicely (it should since there's less than 2000 miles on the whole thing) -- and that the AP Exhaust/Goerlich components go together smoothly.

After that I'll check the plugs (replace them if necessary), lean out the carb and then hopefully get it into emissions next week!

Well small steps tonight -- got the brake lights fully working -- switch wasn't really working so I took it out, cleaned it, then adjusted it as per the factory manual...and...now I have reliable brake lights! The last thing I wanna do is get the Macho rear ended because the lights weren't working right!

Also got the mirrors adjusting -- soaked them in PB Blaster Sunday and some more today after work and was then able to free the ball from the mirror head.

Quick question regarding the reverse/neutral switch -- what are the odds that the whole switch is bad? I get no continuity on the middle pin to the transmission housing in park/neutral -- nor do I get continuity between the outer pins when in reverse. The FSM says to check the gearshift linkage however it moves between the gears properly and is on the right spot on the indicator for each gear.

Have you done tranny fluid and filter?

Good time to try a new switch? 18$

I have not yet, although the tranny was rebuilt when the engine was put in -- so still less than 2k miles on it. I suppose some fresh +4 and a new filter/gasket wouldn't hurt though.

Still don't have the exhaust on as it's been stupidly cold lately -- however tomorrow it'll be in the 50s and I hope to get cracking as I'm running out of time on my temp tag for emissions (only $25 in late fees for an extra month if need be -- thanks Colorado)!

Anyhow, I haven't been to the yard in what seems like forever and I snagged some goodies today...

For starters, two more wagon wheels w/center caps (off an '87):

The '87 also had two 5x7s in pretty good shape -- although they look to be a later (better?) design:

I then came across a really cool '79 D300 dually -- and snagged this for safe keeping:

and a unmolested wood grain bezel:

So all-in-all a good score (also not pictured - I scored a few bits for my recently acquired '96 Dakota Sport 4x4 5.2/5-speed).

Oh and a couple of shots of the old D300:

We've had a TON of snow since just before Halloween -- two storms back to back in the past week and a half...had 8" or so that stuck around since it's been so cold! Today was the first time it was in the mid-40s since before it snowed!

With those 2 wheels I now have an extra complete set -- minus one center cap!

8-track looks like it already has a home with a buddy restoring a late 70s RC -- easy come, easy go! ;-)
