Without further adieu... Here are two photos I noticed on Craigslist last Saturday (truck was actually posted 9/1)... The description was pretty vague mentioning that it needed some electrical work, had a new 318 engine and rebuilt tranny. As soon as I saw the photos my heart nearly stopped as I thought there's no way a 1981 Macho could be this close to me (it was posted on the Northern Colorado Craigslist despite being in Laramie WY). I had emailed the seller a couple of times last weekend but didn't hear anything back until Monday. I figured it had already sold or something had happened. When I finally heard back from the seller I asked him to send me a few more photos so I could see the condition of the interior and exterior -- also confirming (at least from the cell phone pictures) that it appeared to be a Macho. Fast forward to last Wednesday -- I drove up to Laramie after work with my girlfriend and had a look in person. On the phone he said the truck was solid but I wanted to confirm before we agreed on a final price. To my surprise the truck was very SOLID! There's virtually no surface rust, no rot, the body is straight as is the frame. For a 30 year old truck I was floored! We both weren't available until the weekend, but I offered a deposit which he politely refused. Needless to say I had a few sleepless nights between Wednesday and today. I picked up a trailer this morning and headed to Laramie with a good buddy of mine... |

...so we get to Laramie and of course there's little parking near the University of Wyoming -- we park about 500 feet down the street and he comes out with an army of buddies -- in the end about 6 of us pushed it onto the trailer, with the seller steering, and my buddy up front directing us. After cash and papers were exchanged we headed out (there was a football game going on so it was PACKED). We pulled over at a gas station before hitting the road... |

We arrived home (after a few stops to check everything was tied down and to get drinks) around 4PM...the truck is tucked away in the garage now since it's not registered (somewhat strict HOA), but I did snap some more photos for y'all before hand... |

Had to resize these to fit the 768 pixel high rule... The under hood tags DO confirm it is a Macho (will take photos tomorrow as it's dark now), however here are the stripe remnants... And the inside of the wheels are orange... |

The kid who had the truck had no idea it was a Macho...he said he received one lowball offer without the guy actually coming to see the truck...so I see this as fate! I'll take some photos of the under hood stickers and the core support tag tomorrow. As you can see it has power windows, does have power locks, AC, and cruise. Sadly the sunroof isn't an original (it's two panes of glass with a light between them). *Edit* Forgot to mention it was originally a Cashmere truck (as the paint job is flaking off in places). |

NICE! Cert label in door jam? Build sheet under carpet or behind seat? Any history from previous owner? |
