Hello I found this site while looking up info on my recent find. I was given a one owner 1977 macho orange in color from my father in law. It is completely original never touched. It has a 360 with 566 original miles, paperwork to prove. The only problem is that it sat 33 years never fired up or moved. The paint and trim have small pits, fading, and the wheels are rusted and flaking. I would love to restore the truck and be able to pass it on to my son but I'm afraid to ruin any value it has. I'm looking for suggestions or possible go to shops to keep it's value without destroying it. I live in Somerset Pa and my email is minorthreat770750@yahoo.com, thanks so much!!

Need to fire it up. What I would suggest is a mixture of diesel and Marvel Mystery Oil.
If you cant find that oil use Transmission oil 50/50 mix. Fill the cylinders with about 2 oz of the mixture. With the spark plugs out for about 72 hours. Then take a 1/2" extended rachet (24") with about a 1" socket and turn the engine over manually at the lower dampner pully. Turn the engine over enough so the oil runs out of the spark plug holes (drop cloth on the floor). The put a battery in it and turn it over by the key switch for about a minute. Then put the spark plug back in and use some starting fluid at the carb. It should fire with lots of smoke comming out of the tail pipe. It will only run for a few seconds....... Next step will be a lot of work cleaning the gas tank lines and carb.
Sounds like a gold mine find.
Good and get driving it!

If you decide to sell let me know first(lol). I've been looking for a low mileage orange or yellow macho survivor type truck. And I'd love to see some pictures...

skip the gas tank cleaning and mount a lwan mower gas tank under the hood for a tick ( preferably a clear plastic one) and drive it around after you grease the grease fittings and such to lube it all up and see how the motor runs. findinga tank is a pain or alot of money one of the two, and no need to spend that work and money there if the motor is junk and needs rebuilt, great find i have a silver 78 and i want a yellow and orange 77 or 78 and a red or white 79

Hard to say the worth of it without some pics of it.The interior and the body should be in immaculate shape if it only has 566 original miles on it unless it's been sittting outside. The experts ( not me! :D ) here need some pics of the whole truck inside and out to give you a value on it.The pics would give all of us a wealth of knowledge on how to restore our Machos if your truck is truly stone stock never touched.Looking forward to seeing pics of it! :D

The Size is important. I believe it's a maximum of 475k per photo about 3"x5"). You will need to use a photo program to check the size and adjust. If you have any troubles send an email to me and I can adjust and send back so you can put them up.

Here's some pics of his macho powerwagon that he sent me. I know he was having a hard time adding them so I thought I would put these on here for him. Again if you change you mind about selling it I'd buy it for $10,000.00 not even running.
