OK so I add water to the radiator. As soon as it's filled it leaks out around the thermostat neck. Would it b a bad thermostat seal or a water pump issue?

If you already checked to see if everything's tight

and upper rad hose is good,

then maybe it's time to take it apart.

Shouldn't be water pump if it's up that high.

Small or BB ?? doesn't make much diff but

small blocks can develop leaks from corrosion

in the Timing cover and possibly spray diff areas.

Actually the heater hoses can spray also if bad.

T stat necks also corrode and leak.

At least it's not a freeze plug! :o

please tell me its not one of those chrome outlets.... if it is, replace it with something good. There is a chance that your 79 or later style stamped steel one finally rusted out...anyhow, lets us know what it was after the inspection...
BTW, the cheep chrome ones warp and leak...and yes, I spelled cheep like that for a reason...

Well changed the neck gasket but it still leaks around were the hose connects to the neck. The hose was cupped on the end so I cut it back flat like when it was new.Reattached it with the hose clamp and it still leaks.Any ideas what to do to fix this guys?It leaks like bad around the water pump to when I fill up the radiator so that 's my next project.
