I'm having a problem with the transmission not shifting to third gear. The truck hasn't been driven that much for about 2 years since the carburetor was replaced. The linkage isn't setup right. Can the linkage cause the transmission to not shift to third gear? I just ordered the correct linkage stud, and I'm hoping the transmission isn't screwed up since I don't have a lot of miles since the last tranny rebuild. The truck is 1979 727 automatic. Reverse does work, but it shifts hard to reverse.

Can someone please point out how I can purchase or make a throttle linkage stud? I bought the one below, and it didn't work, too short.

http://www.amazon.com/Edelbrock-8007-Th ... brock+8007

Thanks!
