Well if you're not using the engine and transmission and have no need for them they're not worth much certainly not going to recoup what the carcass is worth at $3k). And a rusty truck isn't worth a whole lot either in my book (right now scrap here in CO is $.03/lb) -- maybe $400-500. But if he thinks it's special and you have to have it...that's up to whatever you two can agree on.

Chrome drip rail also doesn't make it sound too promising as a real Macho. They never came with bull bars, let alone chrome. Roll bars are always painted on them. If a Macho is what you're after -- I'd either look for a real one or find a nice, clean chassis and make a clone.

If it's so special, why's it been sitting there 10 years and why'd he go through the trouble to pull the engine/trans?

Well, you know how some people can be. It sounds more like a sentimental attachment.

Honestly I'm not looking for a show truck anyway. I've been looking at this truck for years wondering what it was, started researching and was curious if it could be a macho. It doesn't necessarily matter to me if it's macho or not, I do like the look of it.

I appreciate the info from you all.

Well I ended up buying this truck. Settled on 1k. I am going to sell the 440 for him. The 440 is an f code 1970 high performance. Almost makes me wish I would have bought the engine after finding that out!

The bed does have holes for a roll bar. The interior is black, black leather buckets. Black roof. The engine compartment is the same as the body color, py2602?

Looks like someone made it look like a macho. I will be picking it up next week and will dig deeper!

Great Project!

Would love to have an early truck with a Cummins.

Seems to be best of everything...power, economy, reliability, ease of maintenance...

AND INSANE MACHO appearance that most people have not seen in a long time.

(IF EVER) considering how many people there are born

after these things were gone
