Bouncing off of the Warlock post here.....

Sounds like a silly question but did the "Macho" trucks ever have the /6 as optional ?
I have only ever heard of the > 318 : 360 : 400 : 440 engines installed.
Would it have been possible to special order the /6 engine in a 'Macho' or any 4WD '76-'80 for that matter ? I don't believe I have ever seen any /6 4WD that wasn't a Ford anyway.... :geek:

If the /6 wasn't available in the Macho (or just wasn't done taking into account the 4WD status) would it have been likely in any other factory "flashy" trucks, beyond the "True Spirit" or "Spirit of 76" ?

a friend of mine once bought a truck with no motor. it was a 77 or 78 w100 (turn signals were gone, i didnt look at it real close otherwise) and had an engine code for a 225. there is a 80's /6 4wd for sale on rcc right now, and while going to purdue in west lafayette, i had seen on a somewhat regular basis a 81+ /6 w150. it was a manual trans and had a stepside bed. clean truck, it was black with red wheels and an aluminum topper.

There was a pre 80's 4x4 ramcharger for sale that had a six cyl. not to long ago in RI. I never heard of any macho's with six's only 318, 360's, 400's and 440's from 77 to 78 and 79 and 80 only came with 318's and 360's.

the standard engine on a macho was the 318. The /6 was available on W100 models.

We sold quite a few slant six w100 & w150's back in the day. A Mitsubishi 6 diesel was offered in 78. Machos were all v-8s
