Hi macho781988!
I may have seen one in the days before S & S but if I did, I never knew what it was. Back in the seventies I was an Oldsmobile fanatic and didn't pay close attention to much else. In S & S, I thought Rick's truck was supposed to be a home custom job, having no idea that the Macho was a production vehicle!
I remember LAST440 and palomino talking about the fact that the Macho was marketed primarily West of the Mississippi so that explains a lot. Around here, folks mostly drove Ford and Chevy trucks. Until 1993, you rarely even saw a Dodge truck here. All that's changed. There are a world of Dodge pick-ups on the roads around here now. I always drove Chevy trucks because Olds didn't make one. My first Dodge was a 2006 Power Ram with the hemi that I bought new.
A few weeks ago, I was all set to look at a long bed 78 over near Atlanta, which is pretty close to me, but the owner said it needed brake work. I had intended to drive it back if we made the deal so we postponed. Since then, major expenses in my business have set in so I'm too short on cash right now to even consider a Macho. Business has been good lately so who knows.
That's the long way of saying, "no." Believe it or not, I've never had the pleasure of actually seeing a Macho "in person." I hope to remedy the situation soon. I believe the right Macho for the right price is out there for me somewhere but I guess I'll have to be patient.
